The American People FINALLY find some sense. Let's hear it for the American people who sent Mr. Bush an explicit, "no confidence" message by voting for the democrats and the women! Georgy baby brought this on himself; by making this election a referendum for the war on Iraq, the American people responded with an overwhelming vote against him and the war. I truly enjoyed watching Bush buckle under the pressure during the press conference.... Bush will become a lame duck...or maybe a dead duck.

The Dems take control of the House & the Senate, first time in 12 years.
Colorado republican Governor is replaced by a DEMOCRAT (even though he is pro-life.)
The BAD:
The people in Colorado are still conservative & discriminatory when it comes to social issues...
They voted to ban same-sex marriages.
They voted NOT to allow same sex partnerships to have benefits.
The UGLY:
There is still a disturbingly LOW number of women in senate & congress. Out of 100 senators, only 16 are women. Out of 435 congresswo/men only 70 are women.

In the local paper..."Some top politicians called it a "political earthquake." The president of Norway's Parliament echoed many by calling the election results "a clear signal" to Bush that a majority of Americans now opposed the war in Iraq and want a change in policy.
Most Norwegians firmly opposed Bush's US-led invasion of Iraq, as did a majority of Europeans. More than 60,000 Norwegians took to the streets back in 2003 to demonstrate their opposition, and even Norway's center-right government coalition at the time refused to support the invasion despite pressure from the US. The opposition was largely ignored or rejected in Washington, even though it came from allies.
"We can only hope that after this (the election results) the US president will listen more to the European voices," said Thorbjørn Jagland, a former Norwegian foreign minister and prime minister who's now president of the parliament."

I think a big part of the reason that the same sex proposal didn't go through was really bad timing of the Evangelical Pastor Ted Haggard's sexual exploits...I think it had people take a step back. Which is sooooo unfortunate!
